The VI International Summer School on Cyclodextrins will be held in Genoa, the most important seaport city in Italy, capital of region Liguria, and birth place of numerous protagonists of the Italian and world history, such as Cristoforo Colombo and Niccolò Paganini. Genoa’s name probably originates from the latin word “knee” or “angle” because of its geographical position.

The city centre of Genoa is one of the most extended medieval Historic Centre of Europe, a maze of alleys (caruggi) that unexpectedly end up in small squares with splendid residences and churches, where many works of art were collected and guarded for centuries. The School’s venue, Palazzo Doria-Tursi, was built in 1565 and since 1848 has also housed the city hall of Genoa.
